The State Opening of Parliament, London May 2016

May 2016. - London.

The Queen accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh travelled in the Diamond Jubilee Coach to Open Parliament.

The weather was sadly less than dry, but crowds still turned out to cheer the carriage procession. First was the Imperial State Crown, with the Sword of State and Cap of Maintenance. Also in a Carriage were TRH The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
It's a day of great Pomp and Pageantry, ending ewith the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery riding past.

The carriages aren't the easiest to photograph but having never been to see a State Opening I'm really pleased I did.

Royal Windsor Horse Show.
It's an event held in the Queen's back garden (well the Park of Windsor Castle!) and they walk around like any other show visitor. Prince Philip then competed officially in Carriage Driving.
The Queen, in her trademark Hermes Scarf, drives herself around watching her Husband compete.
Also Prince Edward rode past on his horse.

The Event was, in the Mid 1990's sponsored by Harrods,
so HM The Queen was accompanied by it's owner,
Mohammed Al-Fayed to present prizes.
In the Royal Box he is seen with the
James Bond Actor, Pierce Brosnan.
