Roger Hunt, One of the 1966 England World Cup Squad |
On October 14th, 2016, TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had an 'away-day' to Manchester. It was to be a very packed schedule.
Their day started at the National Football Museum, where they met local youngsters and also toured the World Cup 1966 exhibiiton, even meeting one of the World Cup England
1966 Squad, Roger Hunt.
On leaving they undertook a lengthy walkabout. I presented the Duchess with some photographs from Trooping the Colour which she said were beautiful. I also complimented the Duke of his tan glow,' I wish' he remarked, 'I dont go anywhere in the sunshine now to get one!'
They spent a lot of time with the crowds, particularly children.
Their next visit was to Manchester's Town Hall where they attended a Dedication service for six paving stones dedicated to local VC Heroes (Victory Cross). On leaving the Town Hall they then went on another royal walkabout before leaving for engagements at the University and a Children's Hospice.
