A visit to Sothebys, London whilst down for the Jubilee celebrations.
The Auction House hosted a special exhibition of Tiaras & Paintings, and it was indeed spectacular!
Inside over 40 Tiaras were on display. many of them displayed so beautifully it was like they moved in mid air (invisible wires I was told!)
Amongst them were the Spencer Tiara (worn by Diana, Princess of Wales on her wedding day, to the Pear l & Diamond Tiara worn by members of the Kent Royal Family,
If you love Diamonds, this was for you. It was breath-taking.
A small room (bit crowded at times, with one member of staff anxious to tell everyone to move on!) But once you got over that it was a once in a lifetime exhibition.
Also on show were some very famous portraits of the Royal Family.
From Andy Wathol's iconic image of the Queen to 'Bloody' Queen Mary, and the amazing portrait of Queen Elizabeth I. The Armada painting, lent by Woburn Abbey.
Eerily also on display was the death warrant of the 7th Earl of Northumberland signed by Elizabeth I. It dates from 1572 and was on loan from Alnwick Castle
